Jardín Botanico y Cultural (Caguas)
The idyllic setting of el Jardín Botánico y Cultural de Caguas offers guests an opportunity to take a break from the stress of everyday life while enjoying the splendors of nature in an educational context. Located in the Cañabón ward of the city of Caguas, the visually stunning gardens occupy the terrain where the Hacienda San José sugar plantation once stood. Guided tours lead visitors along paths highlighting important aspects of the land such as the history of the plantation, the indigenous inhabitants of the area and the diverse ecology and plant life of el Turabo Valley, the main geological feature in Caguas’s surrounding landscape. These tours help educate citizen’s about diverse topics including botany and it’s historical and cultural significance, the conservation of the land and sustainable development of agriculture. El Jardín Botánico y Cultural de Caguas succeeds in creating a welcomed alternative to traditional scenic gardens by adding the educational component, a necessary step towards harmonious coexistence with nature.
This was a very fun photo shoot for me because I was working with my girlfriend Rosa Concepcion.
