Compass Puerto Rico

Compass Puerto Rico

El Salto de la Encantada (Añasco)

I was told that his place existed but I had no idea where it was, until I asked Arlene Acosta (the model from this photo shoot).  She lives in Añasco and knew where the place was.  So I quickly scheduled the photo shoot.  As soon as I got there, the place was amazing!  In order to get to the place you need to park the car in the side of the road and walk into this antique wooden broad walk, built on the side of a creek.  Standing on the broad walk, you can see beautiful waterfalls and hear the pleasant sound of the water flowing in its natural state.

I was very amazed to learn that this place was built to honor an Indian Legend.  It is said that an Indian woman, called Humata, fell in love with a Spaniard in the times of Spain’s colonization of Puerto Rico.  Because of their racial and social class differences their love could never be true, so whenever Humata felt sorrow because of her misfortune she would go to this place in particular and cry.
